150 Room Hotel in Pasikuda, Eastern Sri Lanka, with Maldivian Investment

Pasikudha in the eastern province which was a popular tourist destination before the conflict broke out in 1983 is expected to get a boom with the entry of a Maldives hotel developer who is planning to build up a tourism resort.

Maldives Blue Continent will establish a US $ 6 million worth tourism resort including a hotel of 150 rooms.

The resort which is coming up in a land area of 15 acres is expected to be operational by 2011.
Developers recently signed the agreement towards implementing the project with the BOI.

Pasikuda in the district of Batticaloa is expected to be converted into a major tourism destination.

Tourism officials are already working on bringing in investors to come up with tourism properties in this 150 acre resort.

Prior to 1983 the Pasikuda resort saw 3 hotels operating with a total room capacity of 171.
Under the new plans Tourism officials are planning to add 500 rooms.
