Kataragama fire walking tonight

Local pilgrims and foreigners are expected to flock in large numbers to Kataragama tonight to view the attractive fire walking of the historic Kataragama Devale.

A special feature will be that over one hundred devotees bare bodied will express their faith the God of Kataragama by walking on fire.

Security has been enhanced with additional policemen deployed to ensure the smooth functioning of the perahera and devala activities of the annual ritual.

Thousand of pilgrims and devotees are expected at the venue this year after peace has been restored with the elimination of the LTTE.

All common and basic facilities have been provided for pilgrims and devotees who attend the annual festival of the Kataragama Devale.
