
According to him, the hotel will see an investment of Rs. 3 to 4 billion. De Alwis added, “We are planning to fund the entire project”.
The hotel with 200 rooms will be a subsidiary of SLIC and will operate under the name of “Sri Lanka Insurance Resorts and Spa Private Limited”.
Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation is also currently looking for a suitable partner to help them manage and market

De Alwis disclosed, “We are already negotiating with few parties”. According to him those parties are very well known internationally. “If the prospective partner is ready to put some equity, we are ready to accept it”, said, Mohan De Alwis.
The hotel, which is the first “star class” leisure facility to come up in Hambantota, is expected to be built across seven and half acres. The location is closer to the “Peacock Beach” said the official.
