Chinese Investors Explore Sri Lanka Investment in Energy, Trade & Tourism

Chinese investors have paid immediate attention on exploring the scope of investments they can spearhead within Sri Lanka in primary sectors such as power and energy, trade and tourism.

A delegation of high level Chinese investors is now in the country to explore opportunities available and to take part in Sri Lanka’s trade fairs with the aim of gaining insight into the potential investment opportunities in the country.

Yunnan Province Governor Qin Guangrong made these remarks at the bilateral discussions held between the two countries Tuesday at Visumpaya, official residence of Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne.

Governor Guangrong further stated that Chinese investors are paying particular attention on producing wind power, solar power and if possible bio mass.

Guangrong asserted that these regular and irregular exchanges will help to explore the scope of cooperation and enhance mutual relations between the two nations.

Speaking on the prospects of tourism, Governor Guangrong pointed out that Yunnan Province in China is gifted with beautiful mountain ranges which is a primary tourist attraction of the area while Sri Lanka is popular for its exquisite beaches and is considered a small miracle among the foreign sightseer.

Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne deeply appreciated the socio-economic assistance and guidance extended by people of China and also pointed out that prospects for tourism, especially in North and East of the country is extremely high. Therefore, Prime Minister requested the Governor of Yunnan Province to encourage Chinese investors to explore the potential opportunities in this part of the country.
