Aviation and Ports Minister Chamal Rajapakse said the Airport now being constructed in Udamaththala, Hambantota could begin functioning in 2012. He said initial construction was now underway.
Together with the Harbour which is under construction, the Minister noted that the Southern Province will transform into a leading economic suburb in the country.
