India’s Petronet Eyes Sri Lanka Gas Market

Petronet LNG, India’s biggest gas importer, is eying the Sri Lankan gas market, the Indian media reported.

The company’s managing director and CEO AK Balyan speaking to India’s Economic times has said “Petronet is upbeat about expanding into new markets such as Sri Lanka”.

He has disclosed that the company has received a request from Sri Lanka to enter the local market and the Company is looking at the opportunity.

Balyan has revealed that the Petronet’s upcoming terminal in Kochi was strategically located to serve the promising new market.

The company targets to double its liquefied natural gas (LNG) business in the next five years from current about 8 million tons per annum by expanding existing infrastructure and adding new capacities.
