Basil Rajapaksa moots Indonesian investment in Sri Lanka

5th July 2009, Colombo Today

Senior presidential advisor Basil Rajapaksa has mooted more Indonesian investments to Sri Lanka, news.lk reported.

Indonesian investment is likely to flow shortly into Sri Lanka at a massive scale following his Indonesia visit, the website quoted Board of Investment sources as saying.

Mr. Rajapaksa led a high-powered BOI team to Jakarta to explore investment opportunities, and held extensive talks with the Indonesian business sector.

The focus was on investment opportunities in the North and East of Sri Lanka, said the website.

He stressed the need to enhance economic development in those two regions, a measure to win the hearts of the people battered by a cruel terrorist war for over three decades.

Mr. Rajapaksa heads a committee to develop and rehabilitate the northern province.
