Sri Lanka's YMCA Starts Palmyrah Replantation Programme to Help Tamil Community in the North

16th February 2012, www.dailynews.lk,

The National Council of the YMCA is pioneering a palmyrah re-plantation programme. One objective of the programme is to help the Tamil community in the North. The programme is to be implemented through YMCAs in the region. Regional YMCAs with their members will mobilize other organizations and establish plant nurseries, find locations and families to plant palmyrah seedlings.

The programme will be officially inaugurated on February 20 at the Panditirippu YMCA.

Regional YMCAs in the South and West will educate the people in the region and encourage them to visit these families during their journeys to the North.
