Sri Lanka to Establish Resident Diplomatic Mission in Ukraine. Direct Flights too have Commenced between the Two Countries

Sri Lanka is to establish a Resident Diplomatic Mission in Ukraine, following the approval of a proposal made by Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris to the Cabinet.

The Government of Ukraine, on a reciprocal basis, will establish a Resident Mission in Colombo. Direct flights have also commenced between the two countries.



Ukraine gained independence in 1991 and following the establishment of diplomatic relations, there has been closer cooperation between Sri Lanka and Ukraine on bilateral and multilateral levels.

There are currently a range of agreements are in the process of being negotiated covering the fields of education and defence, science and technology, ports and shipping, air services, trade, etc.
